The Baroque
churches
The 3 villages
- Avrieux, Villarodin and Bourget - are the
proud owners of numerous churches and chapels
built by their inhabitants in days of old. These
shrines are a tribute to their faith, but also
a way in which to express their conception of
beauty and art. Do not forget that you are in
the land of Baroque art where polychrome, gilt,
light and contrast play together to form fleeting,
breath - taking images and eternal works of
art. Come and visit these magical treasures!

the "Saint Thomas Beckett" Church
of Avrieux. The visits are free for individual
or groups.

The
Chapels of our village
The chapels
were protecting lands, people and harvests against
the misdeeds of illness, climate, even the mountain
dangers. Built at various times, in often particular
circumstances having marked the history of the
country, these vaults were generally attended
at the time of various processions, most of
the time in the honor of their guards
